Tyrie James named finalist for Mr. Maine Basketball

Tyrie James has been announced as a finalist for the 2026 Mr. Maine Basketball Award, a recognition that honors the most outstanding career in Maine high school basketball.

This season, James was named Class A South Player of the Year, leading one of the state’s most competitive conferences in both scoring and assists, while also earning a spot on the All-Defensive Team. His impact extended far beyond individual numbers, as he led Windham to the #1 overall seed and the program’s first SMAA Championship, further elevating a team that has become the standard in Maine basketball.

James is the only finalist with multiple state championships, winning titles in 2024 and 2025, where he played a pivotal role on both championship runs. During the 2024 title game, he set the state championship record for free throws made, delivering on the biggest stage with poise and precision.

This season also featured a career-high 42-point performance, while James consistently showcased what defines his game, elite shot-making, playmaking, defensive toughness, and leadership at both ends of the floor.

The Mr. Maine Basketball Award is not about one season. It is about legacy, consistency, and impact over time. By every measure, championships, production, two-way excellence, and leadership, no finalist has built a more complete or powerful career than Tyrie James.
