WINDHAM — The Windham High School boys basketball program added another milestone to its history this season, capturing its first-ever SMAA Conference Championship while also placing five players among the league’s top individual honors.
The SMAA championship is awarded to the team with the highest Heal Points over the course of the regular season, recognizing the most consistent and successful team in one of Maine’s most competitive conferences. Windham led the league for much of the season and finished as the conference’s top team, earning the program’s first SMAA title.
In addition to the team success, Windham had a strong presence in the league’s postseason awards, highlighted by Tyrie James being named SMAA Player of the Year.
James, a senior guard, delivered one of the most productive seasons in the conference. He led the SMAA in both scoring (21.2 points per game) and assists (4.4 per game) while finishing fifth in steals. He shot 50.2 percent from the field and 77.1 percent from the free-throw line, consistently impacting the game on both ends of the floor. His performance earned him SMAA First Team honors and a spot on the SMAA All-Defensive Team. During the season, James also recorded a career-high 42-point performance, showcasing the scoring ability that helped power Windham’s offense throughout the year.
Another major honor for Windham went to senior guard AJ Moody, who was named SMAA Defensive Player of the Year. Moody was also selected to the SMAA All-Defensive Team and SMAA Second Team.
Moody’s impact went far beyond defense. He averaged 11.9 points per game, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists, finishing third in the league in assists and second in steals with 3.2 per game. He also shot 39.7 percent from three-point range, giving Windham a versatile player who contributed across the stat sheet.
Senior forward Colin Janvrin also earned SMAA Second Team honors after a dominant season in the paint. Janvrin finished 10th in the league in scoring (15.1 points per game) and fourth in rebounding (8.2 rebounds per game) while leading the SMAA in blocked shots with 2.5 per game. He shot 45.8 percent from the field and 73.7 percent from the free-throw line, providing Windham with a strong interior presence on both ends of the floor.
Windham’s future was also well represented among the league’s top newcomers. Sophomores Sean LeBel and Boston Krainis were both selected to the SMAA All-Rookie Team.
LeBel started all 19 games for the Eagles and averaged 7.6 points per game while contributing 1.9 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He shot 35.7 percent from three-point range and 65.5 percent from the free-throw line, establishing himself as a steady contributor in the lineup.
Krainis served as Windham’s sixth man, providing energy and scoring off the bench. The sophomore averaged 7.2 points per game, shooting 50 percent from the field and 35.6 percent from three-point range, giving the Eagles an offensive spark throughout the season.
Together, the individual awards reflect the depth and balance that helped Windham capture the conference title.
The recognition of five players across multiple award categories highlights the strength of the Eagles’ roster and the consistency the team displayed throughout the regular season. In a league widely considered one of the toughest in the state, Windham’s performance throughout the year established the program among the SMAA’s elite.
The historic conference championship and multiple league honors mark another strong chapter for the Windham basketball program while setting the stage for continued success in the seasons ahead.
